Reflection of the Six Branches of Philosophy Various branches of philosophy have always become great debates in society. Many have questioned metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, political philosophy and social philosophy. The author will discuss and reflect on the six branches of philosophy in which she will describe a time in her life when she have asked similar questions. In addition, the author will discuss specific circumstances that brought her to each of the questions and what conclusions she came about. Metaphysics The author believes that people do have free will and that God has given men the greatest gift of all, the ability of choice. Growing up the author was accustomed to hearing that life is already†¦show more content†¦The common citizens helps electing political parties to help solve public issues which later links to their government by classifying themselves as Democrats, Republican or Reform. Social philosophy The author believes that society should be held under governing laws, which will help protect the people in a bigger scheme of things. When a larger group is being protected it will mean that people will have to give up a little of their rights. For example, after the 911 tragedy the writer witnessed armed soldiers in the airport and also was pulled to the side and searched thoroughly. At first, the author felt as if she was violated, but after boarding the airplane she felt really safe. Although individuals give up some of their rights as citizens it serves as a means to decrease chaos in our society. â€Å"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves† (Frankl, 2014). Conclusion In conclusion we end where we started philosophy can be divided into five branches which study the existence, knowledge, action, force and art. What makes you successful in Life? Is it being well liked or highly thought of or being a high school star? I think being successful is achieving goals that you have set throughout your life. It is not lying and stealing but being honest and hard working throughout your life. Throughout the play, I would like to mention four characters that were important in my mind; Willy Loman, Linda, Biff, and Happy. Willy is the main character who is an older salesperson who is lost in false hopes and illusions, a man who dreams of an easy success and wealth, but throughout his life, never achieves much. I felt sorry for him because he thinks he is doing the right thing in life, working and teaching his sons to be successful but everything he does†¦show more content†¦He should have gone on and learned from his dads mistakes. In the end Biff realizes the illusions that Willy lived on. Biff is destined to no greatness, but he no longer has to struggle to understand what he wants to do wi th his life. Happy is Loman’s second son who is of low moral character; constantly with another woman, trying to find his way in life, even though he is confident hes on the right track. He always tries to look good in the eyes of his parents by telling his dad Im losing weight pop, you notice? when he was younger. And, now he is always saying, Im going to get married; just you wait and see, In an attempt to show his parents he’s getting somewhere in life. He is always lying his way through to look like he has success. He lies that he is the assistant buyer but in reality is the assistant to an assistant. Major theme in this play is the American dream. In Willy’s mind a â€Å"well liked† and â€Å"personally attractive† man in business is successful. In reality the hard work without complaint is the key to success. Willy’s blind faith leads him to mental illness when he is unable to accept the reality and his own illusions. Another theme is that the Lomans cannot distinguish between reality and illusion, particularly Willy. This is a major conflict in the play. Willy who is blind cannot see who he really is and his sons who he thinks are successful are the total opposite.
